FIRST PASS ACADEMY · USER GUIDE

Your FPA user guide

Choose what you want to do. Follow the steps using the same button names you see on screen.

Open Home

Choose the right place

HomeYour shortcuts to learning, reports and the instructor workspace.
LearnThe public Learning Centre: skills, theory, test preparation and books.
AccountYour learner sign-in, published lesson reports and account settings.
LessonsYour published lesson reports and next focus after signing in.

For a learner

  1. Choose Learn to browse free material. You do not need an account for public guides.
  2. For your own lesson reports, open Account and sign in or create an account.
  3. If your instructor has given you an invitation, follow it and use the same email address.

For an instructor

From Home, choose Open Instructor workspace. Sign in with your authorised instructor account. Creating a learner account does not grant instructor access.

On mobile and in the installed website, Home, Learn, Lessons and Account stay at the bottom. Help is available from the account footer and website menu. The highlighted button shows your current area. In the installed app, Back returns to the previous site page when available; otherwise it opens Home.

Add FPA to your home screen

iPhone / iPad

  1. Open FPA Home in Safari.
  2. Open Share; depending on Safari’s layout this may be inside the page menu.
  3. Choose Add to Home Screen. Enable Open as Web App if offered, then tap Add.
  4. Open the FPA icon on your home screen. You may need to sign in again.

Android

Open the installation page. Use Install FPA Learning if your browser offers it, or find Install app / Add to Home screen in the browser menu. Browser wording varies.

Already installed?

Keep the same icon. Open the app while connected to load the current pages. After saving any unfinished work, close and reopen it if the old layout remains. Your existing installation may still start at the Learning Centre; Home is available in the bottom bar.

Installing creates a home-screen web app. It does not purchase membership, enable offline report saving or add App Store features.

Apple’s home-screen instructions

Find a topic and use it

  1. Open Learn. Search for a topic such as roundabouts, or choose Skills, Theory, Test preparation or Books.
  2. In Skills, search or choose a category. Guide opens the explanation; Diagrams opens that topic in the visual handbook. Practice is shown where a related activity exists.
  3. In the visual handbook, use Choose a topic or Previous / Next. Tap a teaching picture to enlarge it and Close picture to return.
  4. Use Read all chapters for continuous reading. The book’s print control prepares the complete book, including chapters not currently on screen.
  5. In a stage guide, use Checklist, Example, Try it and Next step to jump to the part you need.

A useful routine between lessons

Read your instructor’s next focus, review one related topic, then bring one question to your next lesson.

Practice results are not a driving assessment. Some activities remember progress only in the same browser; progress is not yet synced across your account and devices. Guide checklists are not saved.

Sign in and find your reports

  1. Open Account. Use Sign in if you already have an account, or Create account with your own email.
  2. Follow any confirmation instructions shown. Check spam if the email has not arrived; use Resend confirmation email if needed.
  3. For FPA lessons, open the private invitation from your instructor and sign in with the invited email. Follow the on-screen invitation steps.
  4. After your record is linked and your instructor publishes a report, open My Lessons. Use the filters to find a lesson.
  5. Use My Learning for your latest published next focus and related resources. Use Settings for account and membership information.

No report visible?

Select Refresh account. Check that you used the invited email, accepted the invitation and that the instructor has published the report. Drafts are private. If you have no published linked lessons, My Lessons may not appear.

Password and access

Forgot your password? Open Reset your password. Use the same account email; you do not need a new account.

  1. Enter your account email and select Send reset link.
  2. Check your inbox and spam folder. Open the newest reset email.
  3. Follow its link, enter a new password and select Update password.
  4. For learner reports, return to Account. For instructor work, return to Instructor workspace and sign in with the new password.

If the link has expired, request a fresh one. To use Google, choose Continue with Google on your learner or instructor sign-in page, then select the email linked to your FPA account. Google sign-in does not grant instructor access. Sign out when finished on a shared device.

Basic lesson summaries are free. Detailed sections depend on the access attached to your account. Paid public checkout is not open yet. Installing the app does not change your access.

Create, save and publish a lesson report

  1. Open Instructor workspace and sign in with your authorised account.
  2. In Pupils & reports, find and choose the pupil. For a new pupil, expand Add new pupil, enter their details and select Save pupil. This creates a pupil record, not their login.
  3. Select New lesson for this pupil. In 1. Lesson, check the name, email, date, duration and any payment information. Recording payment status does not charge a card.
  4. In 2. Skills, select only the skills covered. Record observations, support and next targets. Leave a skill unassessed when evidence is insufficient.
  5. In 3. Feedback, write what went well, what needs practice and one concise next focus. Select Review report.
  6. Use Save draft whenever you need to keep your work. Wait for the actual saved confirmation. An unfinished draft needs the basic pupil/date/duration fields but can be completed later.
  7. In 4. Review, check the full report, then Approve and Publish report. Published reports become available to the linked pupil according to their access.

Invite and notify your pupil

Create an invitation link where offered and share it privately with that pupil. Use Copy report-ready message after publishing and send it yourself. Copying a message or link does not send an email or WhatsApp message.

Return, correct or export

Use Pupils & reports to open a saved report. For an approved or published report, choose Create corrected version. The pupil continues to see the previous published version until the correction is published. Print / save complete PDF creates an optional export; it does not replace Save draft or Publish report.

Progress

Choose a pupil, open Progress and select a skill. This view uses published lesson data. Working-independence levels are not a prediction of passing the test.

There is no automatic cloud save. Optional device recovery is for your own device only, lasts up to 7 days and is cleared on sign-out. If the connection fails, keep the report open and wait to reconnect before saving.

Request lessons and enquire about gifts

Lessons

  1. Open Lessons & prices to review the available information.
  2. Choose Check availability and complete the request.
  3. Send the prepared enquiry through the channel offered. Wait for confirmation of availability and the lesson arrangement.

A request is not a confirmed booking or an online payment. Check the current terms before confirming lessons.

Gifts

Open Shop & gifts and prepare a gift enquiry. Send it yourself when ready. Coverage, availability and terms must be confirmed; online gift ordering is not open.

Do not assume that a gift balance, lesson credit or subscription has been created merely because you submitted an enquiry.

When something does not work

Offline or interrupted connection

Reconnect before opening your account or saving a report. A navigation attempt may show a generic offline page. Use Back to return to the editing page if it is still available. Offline changes are not queued for automatic upload.

Cannot find a page

Use Home in the bottom bar, then choose the destination. In an installed window, use the Home icon at the top. The full business website remains available from Home’s footer.

Cannot install

Use Safari on iPhone/iPad or a browser that supports installation. If a button is missing, follow the manual instructions under Install. You can keep using the website without installation.

Instructor access denied

Check that you are using the authorised instructor account. A learner account cannot enable instructor access. Contact FPA rather than creating more accounts.
